Food Pharmacy Logo Are you confused by the different diets out there? Most claim to suit everyone, without taking specific typologies and history into account. No single diet fits everyone. In the past, I've worked with three different typologies: metabolic, glandular (body), and blood typing. Many of you have a brief lifestyle guide detailing ideal foods, supplements and physical activity.

I'm pleased to introduce a new tool for those of you that want to improve your diet. The new reports take into account your biochemical individuality to determine your unique nutritional needs. Medical conditions, blood type, body type, metabolic type, food allergies and intolerances, vitamin and mineral imbalance, and ideal weight are all considered in determining the optimal food selection.

Purpose of Disease
When someone falls ill, people often ask why and how it could happen. What is disease? Does suffering ever have a purpose?

Let's first examine our concept of disease. Western medicine understands disease and medical conditions as abnormalities or imbalances in the body. The body is seen as a mechanical system of parts, akin to an automobile. Symptoms of breakdown appear to occur random, or are at most aggravated by defective design (genes) or poor maintenance (regimen).

However, homeopathic philosophy extends this concept of disease to include an energetic disharmony, or mistunement. This dissonance is identified by the manifestation of symptoms in one's sensations and functions. Still, the question remains, where does this mistunement come from? And what is its purpose?

Portrait of a Remedy
In the last newsletter, I introduced a discussion of the contents of most daily droppers: NSOL. This month, we'll take a look at the S. Staphysagria is one of the best-known homeopathic remedies for anger and the effects of its suppression.

The plant, commonly known as Delphinium, is native to both the northern hemisphere and the high mountains of tropical Africa. Many species are cultivated in gardens and the flowers are commonly purple but exist in a range of colours. All parts of the plant contain a poisonous alkaloid, which causes nausea when eaten and possible death if consumed in large quantities. It is used as an herbal extract against parasites such as head lice and in tincture against asthma and dropsy.

As mentioned above, homeopaths most often prescribe Staphysagria for a patient suffering from suppressed anger. Often, the emotion is so well suppressed that the patient never feels angry and has trouble standing up for themselves. They avoid confrontations, their temperament is sweet and gentle, and they often draw sympathy from others. Eventually, the anger cannot be contained and the outbursts may be marked by a tendency to throw things.
